Overview
A revolutionary memorial tower that reimagines how architecture responds to human emotion. Unlike traditional static memorials, this structure employs kinetic mechanisms to create a fluid, individualized experience for each visitor. The building becomes a responsive system where internal modules reconfigure based on emotional inputs, allowing thousands of unique spatial journeys to coexist within a single structure.
Interactive Mechanism
The project centers on breaking the static nature of traditional architecture by employing kinetic movement as a spatial language. The building is no longer a fixed vessel but a responsive system.
- Triggering: Visitor's emotional states (e.g., Reminiscence, Reflection, Release) serve as the input signals.
- Kinetic Response: Internal modules undergo real-time reconfiguration through programmed rotation and sliding mechanisms.
- Spatial Reshaping: Each interaction alters spatial boundaries, lighting conditions, and path orientations.
Individualized Storyline
Central to the design is the concept that "Each visitor possesses their own unique storyline," completely reimagining the traditional memorial experience:
- Non-linear Navigation: The architecture rejects a singular entrance-to-exit route.
- Emotional Mapping: Based on different feedbacks at interaction nodes, the building "translates" and assembles specific spatial sequences for the user.
- Private Narratives: Every individual experiences a distinct spatial journey shaped by their own choices. This allows thousands of different emotional trajectories to coexist within a single structure.
Technical Validation
A functional prototype was developed using 3D-printed components and servo-motor programming. The model successfully demonstrates the programmed rotation and displacement of architectural units, proving the feasibility of "flexible space" within a "rigid structure."
